Quote

"The challenge in working to be open is to keep from getting lost in the openness. This involves paying attention... to be really open to all the possibilities that present themselves within in any given situation. " From "The Breath of God" by Swami Chetanananda

This is so true when painting. How often one can get lost int he thoughts, feelings and colors. I see this as a good thing. One of the many reasons that I paint.

Cougar Wildlife Oil Painting "Faces of Nature Series" by Washington Artist Mary Jo Zorad

Majestic, elegant and stealthy,
from the golden peaks I observe
my quarry beneath the pine tops
unaware of my vigilance and hunger.

K Schilling

On one occasion was I graced to see a wild cougar sitting in the driveway of my neighbors home when I lived in CA.  It was a young cougar just sitting on the asphalt.  I like to believe it was enjoying the early morning, but I suspect it was looking for breakfast.
